West Moberly, Prophet River First Nations warn Site C approval could lead to billion dollar treaty violation

The West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations have warned they will launch a "billion-dollar lawsuit" testing whether the Site C dam violates their treaty rights should the provincial government decide to proceed with the project.

West Moberly and Prophet River Warn Ministers of Billion-Dollar Lawsuit

In a meeting held on November 14th in Fort St. John, Chief Lynette Tsakoza of Prophet River First Nation and Chief Roland Willson of West Moberly First Nations warned Ministers Michelle Mungall and Scott Fraser that a decision to build the Site C dam could lead to a billion-dollar Treaty infringement lawsuit. The First Nations said the final report issued by the BC Utilities Commission on November 1st strengthens their infringement claim considerably and makes cancellation the only viable option.
